New Series “Stressmas” Begins This Sunday
November 29, 2011
“Jesus is the Reason for the Season!“
“Keep Christ in Christmas!”
These are familiar declarations we hear at Christmas typically aimed at those who want to remove mangers from public venues or use the greeting “Happy Holidays” rather than “Merry Christmas.” While protecting the meaning of Christmas in our culture is very important, could it be that even Christians inadvertently squeeze Christ out of Christmas, despite their church programs and benevolent activities?
Think about it. Christmas is a time when we face more stress than any other time of year. The realities of our lives surface as we face financial hardships, family dysfunctions, loneliness, and the disappointments in our lives. Not to mention the unending to do list, parties, decorating, cooking, shopping, and volunteering all packed into just a few short weeks. Let’s face it! Christmas is bitter sweet and stress can easily begin to replace Jesus as the reason for the season.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Jesus came to give us life, not stress! The weight of the world was to be on his shoulders, not ours! This Christmas join West Ridge Church and realize truths about Christ that you may have never discovered. Come learn with us how to leave “Stressmas” behind and make Christmas your reality.
