Welcome to Israel! Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel near the coast for dinner & a good night’s rest.
April 30 – From Sea to Sea
Start your day along the Mediterranean shore, wandering through the extensive ruins of Caesarea Maritima, the port city of Herod the Great. Explore the theater, Roman aqueduct and more in this city where Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial. Stand on Mount Carmel, overlooking Jezreel Valley, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Ba’al. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo where 20 different cities lie superimposed upon each other. View Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus, from the Mount of Precipice. Recall the miracle at the wedding feast as you pass through Cana. Arrive at the coastal city of Tiberias, situated on the shoreline of the Sea of Galilee, to check into your next hotel.
May 1 – Jesus in the Galilee
Travel north to Caesarea Philippi where Peter made his great confession to Jesus, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God”. At Tel Dan see the altar built by King Jeroboam. Enjoy a St. Peter’s Fish Lunch on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Stand atop the Mount of Beatitudes and recall the Sermon on the Mount. Explore Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee. Visit Peter’s Primacy where Jesus charged Peter, “If you love me, then feed my sheep”. At Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, see the Ancient Boat, a fishing boat from the time of Christ that was raised from the sea floor.
May 2 – South Along the Jordan
Set sail across the Sea of Galilee for a special time of worship on the water. At Ein Harod see the spring where Gideon chose his army of 300. Drive south through the Jordan Valley and look out over Jericho, the city whose walls were long ago brought down by Joshua’s army. At Qumran, learn about the mysterious Essenes community that once lived there and the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Nearby, float in the renowned salt & mineral laden waters of the Dead Sea. Make your way “up to Jerusalem” and look out over the city from Mt. Scopus before checking into your hotel for dinner and overnight.
May 3 – Jerusalem
This morning stand on the iconic Temple Mount (conditions permitting) where the Jewish Temple once stood, and the Dome of the Rock now stands. Visit the 1st Century Model of Jerusalem and the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Stand on the Mount of Olives and take in a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem. Walk down the Palm Sunday Path recalling the shouts of “Hosanna!” and make your way to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus was praying among the olive trees the night he was betrayed with a kiss.
May 4 – Southern Wilderness & Ruins
Visit Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress of Herod the Great, famous as the last stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Take the cable car to the top and peer down at the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Explore the oasis of Ein Gedi where David sought refuge from Saul.
May 5 – Jerusalem
Wander through the labyrinth of streets in the Old City of Jerusalem. See the pavement from the Antonia Fortress in the basement of the Sisters of Zion Church. Here "games" Roman soldiers played are carved into the stone. View the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle and walk the Via Dolorosa (the Way of Suffering) recalling Christ’s walk with the cross to Calvary. On Mount Zion, enter the House of the High Priest Caiaphas where Jesus was imprisoned prior to the crucifixion.
May 6 – Jerusalem
Pray alongside the Jewish faithful at the Western Wall, then step back in time as you explore the Rabbi’s Tunnel, with stonework dating back to the Second Temple! View the Pool of Siloam where Jesus healed a blind man. Finally, gather together at the Garden Tomb to share in communion as you reflect on the agony of the crucifixion, then celebrate the glory of the empty tomb! After dinner, transfer to the airport for your night flight.
