WHAT ARE JOURNEY GROUPS? "JOURNEY GROUPS" are small groups of people who, together, are 'journeying' with God. They are groups of disciples (student-followers) of Jesus Christ. WRC is a large church, and its exciting to be part of a large crowd of people who love God. But you can't grow to your full potential without being connected with smaller groups of people within WRC. You can't live a "purpose-driven life" (worship, outreach, fellowship, ministry, discipleship) without other Christians. Journey Groups are people who know each other and are known by each other. They pray, care and share with each other. What kinds of groups does WRC offer? There are two basic types of Journey groups - ongoing and short-term. ONGOING groups make a year-long commitment to meet and care for each other. SHORT-TERM groups are focused on a limited study, anywhere from 6-13 weeks. These groups may be made up of a variety of people, or a more specific group of people: men, women, married, singles, young couples, older couples, etc. When and where do the groups meet? We encourage groups to meet weekly, because it's hard to build relationships only seeing each other a couple times a month. Groups choose to meet when and where they want: in homes, at restaurants, on WRC campus, evenings or mornings, weekdays or weekends. Group meetings are typically 1-2 hours in length. What do groups do? As we said, groups meet for a specific purpose, not just for social enjoyment? but they DO enjoy each other! Most groups spend time in prayer, worship, Bible study, and discussing their lives. During the month they may serve a group member who is sick with meals, help another member move into a new house, or care for each other's children. They may serve in a WRC ministry together or even travel on a mission trip as a team. |
